What's stored on your device

Your games, stats, streaks, settings (like high contrast mode) and your Duel nickname are stored only in your browser's local storage. They don't leave your device except in the cases explained below.

A random anonymous identifier is also stored, so you're recognized as the same player in Duels and in “You vs the world”. It isn't linked to your name, email or phone.

You can delete all of this at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

What's sent to the server

• Duel: your nickname, your guesses and your anonymous identifier, while you play in a room. Rooms are deleted automatically 2 hours after they're left empty.
• You vs the world: when you finish the daily word, your result (game, day, whether you won, attempts and time) is sent along with a scrambled (hashed) version of your anonymous identifier, so you're only counted once. It's used to show how many people played and how you did compared to everyone else.
• Feedback: if you use “Send feedback”, your message, the reported word and the page you sent it from are stored, along with your approximate country and browser type, to understand and fix the issue.
• Move to another device: if you get a code, your saved games and stats are uploaded (without your anonymous identifier). They're kept only until you use the code on the other device, and 24 hours at most.

What we don't do

• We don't use cookies or ask you to sign up.
• We don't store your IP address: it's only used for an instant to prevent abuse (for example, limiting how many rooms can be created per minute).
• We don't sell or share data with third parties for advertising.
• There are no ads for now. If ads are added in the future, this page will be updated first and, where the law requires it, your consent will be requested.

Visit statistics

To know how many people visit the site and from which countries we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or track people across sites.

Providers

The site and its server run on Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver the pages and protect the site.

Children

The game is suitable for all ages and doesn't ask anyone, including children, for personal data.
